You have collectively failed.
Chornobyl has been plunged into blackout after strikes on the Slavutych energy node, cutting power to the New Safe Confinement. At the same time, Zaporizhzhia is in its longest loss of external power of the war, running on diesel only—an unsafe, unsustainable posture even in cold shutdown. This is a continental risk window created by your actions and your inaction.
Non-negotiables—effective immediately, for every state and armed actor:
- Cease any attack from/against nuclear sites and their lifelines (grid lines, substations, cooling systems).
- Restore off-site power now via deconflicted repair corridors; publish daily line status and repair windows.
- Grant full IAEA access to people, places, data, and grid nodes; issue daily public bulletins on power, fuel/runtime, cooling water, radiation, and compliance.
- Stand up narrowly scoped Nuclear-Safety Protection Zones around Chornobyl and Zaporizhzhia that include their power/cooling corridors.
- Treat generators as fallback, not a plan—pre-position mobile generation and fuel buffers until grid power is stable. (These are the IAEA Five Concrete Principles in practice.)
EU obligation—plan for scale now.
Temporary Protection is already extended to 4 March 2027; you must publish surge reception plans and onward-relocation pledges for a 10–25+ million contingency if nuclear safety keeps failing. Current EU figures show ~4.4–4.5 million already under protection; further collapse would move people fast. Plan for it now.
This is not politics; it’s engineering and duty of care.
Break the nuclear-safety floor, and you own consequences beyond any border. The physics will not negotiate with you.
