The Metaphors Were Calculations: the Locks, Computed, Is Published

The sixteenth instrument is an interactive annex to “The Safety of the Universe: Three Locks Against Empire” — the toy car, the address book, and the map of everything, each rebuilt as a live equation. After the Checkpoint, the road runs from the story back to the arithmetic.

The letter’s toy universe — a car at 300 blocks a minute on a track where every block spawns a copy each hundred minutes — turns out to be no toy at all. It is de Sitter’s universe exactly, a(t) = eHt with H = 1/100 min⁻¹, and its famous wall at 30,000 blocks is the textbook horizon c/H. The annex hands the reader the closed form the letter kept under the floorboards — g(t) = 30 000 + (D₀ − 30 000)·eHt — and a race to run it on. Press 29 999: the gap crawls for seventeen hours, then collapses all at once, arriving at exactly 17 h 10 m 54 s with 309,269 blocks on the odometer — the letter’s numbers, to the second. Press 30 000: the gap holds forever, Omega Valhalla pinned on the wall. Press 30 001: it escapes. The bomb obeys the same line — a blast wave is just another rider at c.

Lock II gets the emperor’s address book. Grant him FTL-Infinity: he can jump anywhere he can name, and naming is exactly what fails. The frontier coordinate gains a digit every four toy-hours, forever; press the presets and the dials land where the letter said — 1.6 quadrillion blocks and FTL-54b on day one, 2.9 sextillion and a 22-digit address on day two, 2,291 digits after a year, 22,830 after ten. Lock III draws the last wall: a live map of a region costs volume, (R/ℓ)³ bits, while the region can hold only surface — the holographic ceiling, ~10¹²² bits for the observable universe. The lines cross at sixteen femtometres. A map of everything, finer than one nucleus per bit, does not fit inside everything.

WHAT THE INSTRUMENT HOLDS
01Lock I. The horizon race, live: five presets, a tempo dial, the gap sparkline, and the three fates — arrives, locked, escapes.
02Lock II. The address dials: distance, digits, recession per second, required drive — victory day to year ten.
03Lock III. The map-vs-bubble chart with a resolution slider, the 10¹²² ceiling, and the 16-femtometre crossing.
04The chips. On every lock: the letter said → the integral says — the corpus numbers reproduced live, to the second and the digit.
“Unreachable. Unaddressable. Unthinkable. Three walls, one geometry — and every number in the letter, honest to the second.”
— THE LOCKS, COMPUTED · § 04

The seams stay visible: de Sitter horizons, the Bekenstein bound, and the sky’s real walls are established; the walls-as-mercy reading is corpus, worn openly; and locks I and II assume the acceleration is eternal — if dark energy evolves, the horizon drifts, and the page says so. Like every instrument of the system it runs entirely in the browser, stores nothing, sends nothing, and shows its equations on its face.
