USL English Lexical Base 1 is now available

USL English Lexical Base 1 is now available. The new lexical atlas and visual message instrument brings a substantial English vocabulary into Unified State Language, with a searchable index, a message composer and a reader that recovers the original text from encoded images.

The release introduces a separate lexical layer beneath Carrier. Its 354,983 records establish that particular English forms occur in the selected source. Carrier continues to hold curated concepts, definitions and relations, with its existing checked and working distinction.

Readers can explore a form’s address, write a message and explicitly attach a Carrier concept to a selected passage. The composer combines vocabulary references with literal text, preserving punctuation, whitespace and text outside the imported English collection.

The message travels through CVP1, the project’s versioned visual transport. Larger messages can span several PNG images. The reader checks the sequence and recovers the text; concept references resolve against the specific dictionary context identified by the sender.

The standalone page includes the complete first lexical release and a saved Carrier snapshot. It also attempts to fetch and verify both live dictionary tiers, clearly reporting which context is available. Sequence downloads include the original text, message data, image frames, hashes and available concept context for reproducible experiments.

A source readers can inspect

The vocabulary comes from the Moby Words II single-word file preserved by Project Gutenberg. Its documentation records the author’s public-domain grant; the original notices and source files accompany this release.

The imported file contains 354,983 unique nonempty forms, one fewer than its advertised count. The published manifest records that difference, the source hashes and the import rules. Each form has a stable allocation and traceable source-line evidence.

“Source-verified” means occurrence in that source. Definitions, senses and translations require their own evidence and review. English Lexical Base 1 is a documented starting collection, with room for future extensions.

Working infrastructure, room to grow

Release checks recovered exact source bytes from five example messages across six PNG frames, including Unicode, an explicit concept reference and a sequence read in reverse frame order. Message size varies: the instrument shows the actual lexical and plain-text comparison, including cases where a short message carries extra overhead.

This foundation makes ordinary vocabulary usable now while leaving a clear path for carefully sourced morphology, sense distinctions, other languages and future image-recognition research.
